Bandag shop opens in Romania Opens retread plant in cooperation with Bandag (Tire Business)

BUCHAREST, Romania--Romania's S.C Tofan Grup SA, working in cooperation with Bandag Inc., has opened that eastern European country's first retread plant in Bucharest.

The plant is the fist of five Bandag shops Tofan plans to open in Romania, which together should have the capacity to produce 250,000 retreads annually. The second unit is scheduled to be opened in Iasi, a Bandag spokesman said.

Romanian-US joint venture for retreaded tyres (BBC)

The Romanian SC Tofan Grup SA and the US concern Bandag have inaugurated Romania's first retreaded tyre manufacturing plant, the Romanian news agency Rompres reported on 2nd October.

The plant, which is the first of six, retreads tyres with pre-cured tapes for four-wheeled cars and trucks. The six units will be able to restore annually some 250,000 used tyres. Another contract is expected to be signed soon for the opening of the second unit in Iasi.
